Cliveden House

I haven’t written for a while and that’s not to say I having been visiting some noteworthy restaurants, bars and hotels. I sat down last weekend after s busy weekend only to find that cliveden House a beautiful 350 manor hotel I had only visited two weeks prior was on the tv. The house will be featured on channel four as part of a 5 episode series.

If you have seen the show or had the pleasure to visit you will join me in saying that Cliveden is one of the most beautiful hotels in the UK. The building oozes history and has been kept in immaculate condition with original architecture, walls showcasing art dating back to the 16th century along with a mixture of antique furniture and period interior features.

The grounds are absolutely breathtaking... I actually witnessed the garden team hard at work pruning and attending to what I thought was already a perfect garden! If you only think back to a few months ago where we saw one of the hottest heat waves we’ve experienced since 1976, it’s incredible to see the sea of vibrant green grass and lush foliage that surrounds the house. 376 acres of Grade I listed formal gardens and National Trust grounds woodlands is the perfect setting for any city break, I will definitely return to explore more of the grounds when the weather is a better!

Despite having a short stay at the house we took advantage of what the historic property had to offer! When we arrived it was late afternoon and the sun had already started to go down making our walk down to the river through the tree-lined path rather romantic. We hadn’t realised that Clivedens Spring Cottage sat opposite the river and both thought it was a lovely location for a private and cosy, stay!

When we returned to the house it was off to the spa, which had everything a girl could wish for. I could have spent a lot more time in the changing room if I hadn’t of had someone waiting for me, It was fully equipped and rather chic to be honest! We enjoyed the indoor pool and spa and took a dip in the outdoor hot tubs hidden behind the garden walls.

After spending quite a few hours in the spa we went to got ready and visited the bar for a quick cocktail before dinner. We chose to dine at the Cliveden Dining Room and enjoyed a three course à la carte menu which really showcased why the restaurant had three rosettes! Such a treat!

I can’t recommend Cliveden enough and honestly this one place that doesn’t even need it! Fantastic.

Winter walks

It’s Christmas and I am spending the festive season at home in Dorset with family. With no signs of snow and a breeze that isn’t too bitter this Christmas has turned out to be rather delightful!

So when it comes to country or seaside walks (on the path, as it would be my Dubarrys and a pair of jeans with a chunky knit) with the possibility of stopping for a afternoon tea or a quick coffee, the question always is what to wear!

This winter I have opted for lots of effortless outfits that are transitional from outdoors to indoors. Jumper dresses have always been a big part of my wardrobe and this season I have enjoyed teaming them with cute ankle boots or slender knee length boots (with a heel of course!). Depending on the weather I usually finish the look with a lightweight trench or heavy aviator along with my daily rings and a statement earring. Pretty easy!

Summer afternoons

Despite loving the insanely hot weather we are having in London I really enjoy those cool late nights and wrapping up in a luxe jumper outside in the garden. Or in the flat with friends whilst drinking wine and annoying the neighbours with screaming and fits of laughter. So my knit drawers are still in use this summer and I have recently acquired this light cream number from zara which I'm soo in love with.

Weekend away in the Cotswolds at The Lords of the Manor

I spent last weekend relaxing and enjoying the great British countryside in the Cotswolds. My perfect getaway place, fresh air (dependant on what field you may pass) scenic walks and cosy village pubs

I had the pleasure of staying at The Lords of the Manor a luxury country hotel located in upper slaughter. The hotel boasts a cosy, sitting room-like bar, restaurant, resting rooms and one impressive wine room (dream room for me) It was rather cold so I didn’t spend much time in the garden but it was still beautiful for this time of year!

My room was pretty, spacious and so welcoming. It featured a walk in wardrobe, arm chairs and a side table with trendy country lifestyle magazines, a beautiful large dressing table, comfy window seating and a good sized bathroom with his and hers sinks robes and the softest bath towel

I had such a lovely time away being wined and dined by all the attentive staff at The Lords of the Manor. I’m going to miss the quiet mornings with breakfast in bed, long country walks wrapped up in chunky knits, tailored blazers and long walking boots. But lets not forget those impromptu pub lunches between visiting independently owned galleries and country manors.

Oh I could cry!! Thank you for a lovely stay The Lords of The Manor, I can’t wait to visit again
